Interesting Facts:
Vermeer lived his entire life in Delft.
In 1653, Vermeer married Catharina Bolnes. He and his wife had a total of 14 children.
Vermeer became a member of the Guild of Saint Luke in 1653. In 1662, 1663, 1670 and 1671 he was elected head of the guild.
Vermeer was not a prolific painter, only creating approximately 40 paintings in his lifetime.
